It gives us great pleasure to bring before you the second circular
containing useful information for your forthcoming trip to the Quark
Matter 2008 Conference to be held at Jaipur, during 4-10 February
2008.

1 VENUE:
Jaipur, popularly known as the pink city of India, is situated about
300 km south of the Indian Capital, New Delhi. The conference will
be held at B.M. Birla Auditorium and Convention Centre.
2 REGISTRATION:
Participants are requested to register through the conference web site.
The registration fee will include lunches from February 4-10,2008,
conference material, conference proceedings and the social programmes.
For the accompanying person the registration fee includes lunches and
social programmes.
Registration Fee: USD 440
For Student: USD 220
Accompanying Person: USD 200
Late Registration Fees: USD 500
For Student: USD 250
Payment for the Registration will be possible by cheques / bank drafts,
Swift transfer and credit cards. If you are paying through credit card
please add 2.5% of the registration fee toward service charges.
The registration fee is payable in favour of QUARK MATTER 2008.

3 ACCOMMODATION:
Some of the finest hotels of international fame are in close proximity
to the conference venue. The accommodation facilities available
during
the Quark Matter 2008 have been put up in the conference website
with
special tariff rates (valid from September 14 to December 31, 2007)
for the participants. As February is peak tourist season in Jaipur,
we
request you to confirm your reservation as soon as possible through
the
conference website.
Transport between the venue and the conference hotels will be provided
during the conference period.
4 ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:
LaTex file of abstract for oral and poster presentation may be
submitted to: qm2008_abs@veccal.ernet.in on or before October 31,
2007. Abstract submission through website is also possible.
The abstract should not exceed one page. The format template
for abstract preparation is available from the conference website.
5 HOW TO REACH JAIPUR:
Jaipur, the capital city of the Indian province of Rajasthan,
is very well connected by Air, National Highways and
Railways. The distance between New Delhi to Jaipur is about 300 KM.
Special transport arrangements (from New Delhi Airport to Jaipur)
will be made for Quark Matter 2008 participants. Please check the
website for booking procedure, cost and other details.
[6] FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION:
Local hospitalities (food and accommodation)
may be provided to a limited number of students and post docs
during
the conference. Application may be send through the conference web
site,
or by e-mail (in case of e-mail please write ``support and your
name''
in the subject line).
[7] VISA:
Most of the foreign nationals require a visa to enter India.
We would like to inform you that we have already intimated the
concerned
ministry (of Government of India) through our department for fast
processing
of your visa. We recommend that you apply for visa at your nearest
Indian
Embassy/Indian Consulate office. If you need an invitation letter
please
please contact us.
[8] WEATHER:
The weather at Jaipur during February is very pleasant. Temperature
varies
between 12 deg Celsius (average low) and 24 deg Celsius (average
high).
Normally there is no rainfall during this period of the year. Light
woolen
clothing is recommended.
[9] CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS:
The plenary lectures and the contributed papers selected for oral
presentation
will be published in Journal of Physics G of Institute of Physics
Publishing (UK).
The guidelines for preparing the manuscript will be posted on the
conference web site
later.
The contributed papers selected for poster presentations
will also be published in a special volume.
[10] NUCLEAR PHYSICS A - YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD:
Two oral presentations from parallel sessions and two posters will
be selected for the Nuclear Physics A - Young Scientist Award. Each
award of 400 Euro, will be conferred by the Nuclear Physics A. Only
those below 35 years of age are qualified for the award. A committee
consisting of several members from the International Advisory
Committee,
Organizing Committee and other eminent scientists in the field will be
responsible for selecting the recipients.
[11] QGP WINTER SCHOOL 2008:
A School for young researchers will be held from February 01-03, 2008
in Jaipur preceding the Quark Matter 2008 conference. The aim of the
school is to present a summary of the main concepts and results
for those young researchers so that they can contribute to and get
maximum benefit from the conference. There is no registration fee for
the school. See the conference website for details.
[12] CURRENCY:
The unit of currency is Indian Rupee (INR). For details of exchange
rate please visit:

accepted at most of the hotels and major stores/shops.
